Jackson Baptist Church
Mission and Vision
Our Mission Statement
“The mission of Jackson Baptist Church, through a vital partnership with the Holy Spirit, is to enable people at home and abroad to become mature disciples of Jesus Christ”
Budgets, buildings, programs and activities are simply tools to accomplish that objective.
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’.” Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
OUR FIVE STRATEGIES
Strategies: There are five major strategies that our ministries fulfill. These areas translate into individuals being touched through worship services, ministries to children and youth, Sunday morning Bible instruction, adult small groups, home Bible studies, and missionary witness. The five strategies also contribute to completing our vision of building a healthy church for a hurting world. We want to see progress and spiritual development in each person.
G-R-A-C-E
Growth- We seek to strengthen the spiritual life of each
person through Bible-centered preaching and teaching, to help each person grow
toward Christ-like maturity.
Reaching– Through local ministries and global missions, we
seek to share the Good News about Jesus Christ with everyone.
Affirmation- We seek to welcome guests and help them
find a warm and caring environment where they can be loved and shepherded.
Caring- We seek to equip each person for service
to discover their spiritual gifts, find a place of ministry, and receive
training.
Exalting- We seek to exalt God through daily obedience and corporate times of praise and worship.
Ministry Objectives:
We have eight specific ministry objectives that will help us fulfill our mission and vision:
1. Empowering Leadership- Leadership to equip, support, motivate and mentor individuals to become all that God wants them to be.
2. Gift-oriented Ministry- Help church members to identify their God-given spiritual gifts and integrate them into ministries that match their gifts. Take a spiritual gifts assessment test.
3. Passionate Spirituality- living out the Christian faith with commitment, fire and enthusiasm.
4. Functional Structures- programs are always a means to an end. Whatever does not measure up to this requirement is changed or laid to rest.
5. Inspiring Worship Service- attending worship should be an inspiring experience that people look forward to each week.
6. Holistic Small Groups- A system of small groups (Growth Groups) where individual Christians can find intimate community, practical help and intensive spiritual interaction. Learning to apply biblical insights to everyday issues.
7. Need-Oriented Evangelism- learning to share the gospel in a way that meets the questions and needs of non-Christians.
8. Loving Relationships- the oneness that we have in Christ should very naturally lead to a genuine love and concern for our fellow believers even when we are very different from one another.
