Scripture, friendship, and a genuinely great time
AWANA is a weekly club where kids learn Scripture, hear the gospel, and have a genuinely great time doing it. Every child is paired with a caring adult leader who listens to them recite the verses they've memorized, prays with them, and gets to know them over the course of the year.
Your family doesn't have to attend Jackson Baptist. Every child is welcome.

One for younger kids, one for older kids.
Sparks
Kindergarten – 2nd grade
Sparkies explore the people and events of the Bible through their handbooks, memorize verses, and play age-appropriate games. Each year covers a different portion of Scripture.
T&T (Truth & Training)
3rd – 5th grade
T&T digs into the character of God, the structure of the Bible, and what it looks like to follow Jesus day to day.
What a Friday night looks like
Kids rotate through three segments between opening and closing.
Check-in
Check-in in the lobby. Please walk your child in.
Opening ceremony
All the kids together for a song, the pledges, and prayer.
Small groups
Children recite the verses they've worked on that week with a leader. A light snack is served during this time.
Team competition
Four-color teams, plenty of noise.
Bible lesson
A Bible lesson for their age group.
Closing ceremony
Awards for sections completed, and dismissal at 8:00.
A handbook, a Bible — and you
A handbook and a Bible, which we'll provide. Every new clubber starts with an entrance booklet that walks through the gospel before beginning their handbook.
The biggest thing your child needs is you. Kids memorize their verses at home during the week, and a few minutes of practice with a parent makes all the difference in how the year goes.
For parents
We take your child's safety seriously.
Two-adult rule
Two adults are present with every group at all times — never one adult alone with a child.
Cameras in place
Cameras are in place throughout our ministry spaces.
Cleared volunteers
All volunteers complete a child safety clearance before serving.
Nut-free program
We are a nut-free program. Please list any allergies or medical needs on your registration form.
Children are checked in and out in the lobby, and released only to the adults you've named on your registration form, using the pickup code you receive at check-in. Please come inside to pick up your child at 8:00.
Save your child's spot
Registration takes about five minutes — one form per child. Register soon! So we can have your child's book on the first day! Can't wait to see you then!
AWANA runs on people like you
AWANA runs on people who are willing to sit with a few kids on a Friday night. The most needed role is a listener — no lesson to prepare, no curriculum to learn, just listening to four or five children recite their verses. About forty minutes a night.
If you've ever thought you weren't qualified to teach, this is the place to start.
